Description: Two tanks, containing 3,642,000 gallons of volatile fuel, shot flames hundreds of feet into the air over Wilmington. Photo shows firemen battling the blaze. Heat was so intense, nearby telephone poles caught on fire. Photo dated: August 28, 1953.
