Description
This photograph, taken on Jan. 17, 1933, shows the Depression-era “Hunger Army” filing in “Hunger March Ranks” to Sacramento to petition the state Legislature to help with a food shortage. Formed during the early 1930s, the “Hunger Army” was made up mainly of unemployed men who marched to the State Capitol through the San Joaquin Valley.
