Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated December 24, 1955 reads, "Vital communication link - One of five radio dispatchers stationed at Newhall in Betty Servoss of San Fernando shown contacting radio car on one of two frequencies used by highway patrol. Patrol needs two frequencies to cope with transmission difficulties caused by local terrain and weather. Receiving and transmitting equipment is at rear and light on top of set in foreground lights when operator transmits. Radio service is on 24 hour basis and does not contact with other police frequencies.
