"De passage à Befandriana, pour aller à la conférence à Morondava" ("Taking a rest in Befandriana while travelling to a conference in Morondava"). On the picture it is written in Malagasy: "Ny Surintendant efa mianaka sy ny namany ary ny zanany madinika eto Befandriana Sud 2 Juin 1936". -- Valborg Wersland was a missionary in Madagascar from 1927-1940. She married Thollef Steen in the USA in 1942. Edvin Fagereng was a missionary in Madagascar from 1922-1937 and Madagascar Inland 1940-1960. He married Louise, maiden name Roullot, in France on September 6, 1928. This picture is taken outside of Fridtjov Birkeli's home.
