Description
Two young boys sit on the ground of a street in Mexico City. The boy on the left puts away his tools for shoe shining as the other boy watches. The 80's were considered the "lost decade" because of Mexico's debt crisis. This was due to the falling oil prices that left Mexico without foreign currency to pay off its $80 billion debt. This in effect, increased high levels of unemployement. In 1981, 52.5 percent of households in Mexico were considered poor. Dos niños se sientan en el suelo de una calle en la Ciudad de México.
