Photograph caption dated May 15, 1958 reads, "Ground has been broken for Sun Valley's newest market, a half million dollar project that will rise at Glenoaks and Sunland boulevards. Bill Martin and his son, Bob, will operate the new enterprise, named Sun-Val Market. From left, in ground breaking ceremonies are, Samuel Kastel, R. Leon Edgar, AIA, Donald R. Kay, structural engineer; Ferrill Jones, barber; Jim Hook, vice president E. W. Hahn, Inc., general contractors; Miss Jean Haserul, Honorary Mayor; Bill Martin, market operator, and his son, Bob, rear; Dr. Frederick Gruneck, president Sun Valley Chamber of Commerce and Bill Crain, representative of Assemblyman Bill Marsh. Market will be completed early October."
