Photograph caption dated October 13, 1954 reads "A few of the many celebrities on hand yesterday for the dedication of the new Sepulveda Basin 'North' Golf course are pictured here. They are, from left, Gene Mauch, Los Angeles Angels' most valuable player; Jack Carson, movie star; Maurie Luxford, president of the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks commission; Jerry Priddy, former manager of the Seattle baseball club, and Johnny Weismuller (sic), also of the flickers. Play was opened on a full scale today for the public. Course is under the direction of the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department." The golf course is in Encino.
