This is a photograph of Fr. Mullen leading a boat with seminary boys. Two boys are rowing the boat while the others look at what Fr. Mullen is pointing out. Rev. Mullen was born in Pittston, PA. He entered The Venard, Maryknoll's Apostolic College, in 1919, and was ordained in 1928. He was assigned to Fushun, Manchuria, returning to the U.S. in 1937. He returned to Manchuria in 1939 and was repatriated aboard the Swedish refugee ship Gripsholm in 1942.
