Photograph of The "Grizzly Giant" redwood tree in the Mariposa Grove, Yosemite National Park, ca.1910. A horse-drawn carriage carting several people stands on the left of the massive redwood tree at center with two people outside of a second horse-drawn carriage further left. The redwood's surface is rough with long groups and the branches are thick and damaged. The tree has very few bunches of light leaves along the branches. Tall, thin trees surround the redwood on all sides with very small spruce trees and chopped logs closest to the base of the great trunk.
