Van Skike, Looff Pier, Santa Monica, California, Worlds Champion woman long distance swimmer of sixty-one years of age."--text, printed on image. "August 23, 1922 - Swam from Venice breakwater to the end of the Santa Monica Municipal Pier where she dropped her feet to a standing posture in water seventy-five deep, and floating in that position standing in deep water sang 'The Holy City' and 'Star Spangled Banner' then made the return swim to Venice making a distance of six miles in just five hours"--text, printed on verso.
