Description
The San Diego Democratic Club (now San Diego Democrats for Equality) was founded in 1975, one of the earliest LGBT organizations in the area. It was one of very few political and social outlets for the community at the time, with many meetings held in secret due to members' fears of being outed in public. The club has grown to be very active in regional and statewide political activities, and their endorsement is highly sought by political candidates in San Diego. This tape has a speech by the club's founder, Bob Lynn. It has been selected for its content as well as the fragile nature of the media.
