Photograph of a man adjusting hoses on the Standard Oil Company dock, San Pedro, ca.1920. A man can be seen kneeling at center, tying lines onto a thick rubber hose that runs from the foreground at right over the deck of a tanker ship in the background. Several similar hoses are visible, attached at one end to pipes sticking out of the dock at left, and on the other end to more pipes on the deck of the ship. The light-colored superstructure of the ship can be seen in the background at left.
