Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated May 20, 1961 partially reads, "Three Valley high school students won recognition awards Thursday in a contest sponsored by the San Fernando Valley chapter, California Society of Professional Engineers. George Sudikatus Jr., Sun Valley, was top winner in a field of 10 finalists. The Notre Dame High School student received a $100 U. S. Savings Bond. Second place and a $50 bond went to Robert Fine, Birmingham High School, and Claude M. Fligg Jr., Burbank High School, took third place and a 25 bond. Selection of the winners was based on academic excellence, a written essay and a personal interview. Participants must have followed a course of study qualifying them for engineering and scientific careers in college." Pictured are Fligg, Fine and Sudikatus, left to right, with their awards.
