Photograph was edited for publication purposes. The Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, located at 3939 S. Figueroa Street, was officially opened on July 4, 1959 by then Vice President Richard M. Nixon and was designed by Welton Becket; general contractor was L.E. Dixon Company. The last event at the arena was a Bruce Springsteen concert. The arena was closed on March 19, 2016 and demolished to make room for a new soccer stadium. Photograph caption dated December 28, 1964 reads "The Los Angeles Lakers' center Darrall Imhoff (14) blocks a shot attempt by San Francisco's Wilt Chamberlain (13). Also seen in Saturday night's Laker, 129-122 win over the Warriors, are Elgin Baylor, left, and Jim King, extreme right." The game was held at the Sports Arena.
