Description
Photograph of an exterior view of Los Angeles City Hall on Broadway Street, ca.1890. The four-story stone structure has a main entryway through three arches at the top of a wide stairway. Groups of tall ventilation pipes extend above the roof at right on the top crest and in the main slope. A square tower at left is higher than the rest of the building. High up on near the roof is the inscription "A.D. MDCCCLXXXVIII". One pedestrian is on the sidewalk next to an empty street. This photograph was taken from Mrs. Locke's house across the street.
