Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. She graduated from Bogazici University in Istanbul with a B.S. in civil engineering and from Rutgers University in New Jersey with a M.S. and Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering. In addition, she was a research fellow at Princeton University, an adjunct professor at USC, and a graduate of Harvard University’s Sustainability Leadership Program. She returned to Turkey and became vice president of Klimer-Climate Change Research Center in Istanbul.
