Description: Aerial view of Venice Beach Recreation Center, officially dedicated on Oct. 21, 1961, with a two-day celebration. Mayor Samuel Yorty and Councilman Karl Lundberg, 11th District, co-chaired the committee in charge of the celebration. The Center was designed by the architectural firm of Vernon Duckett and Associates and built by contractor William J. Shirley at a cost of $867,000 with financing under provisions of the City's recreation and park bond fund. Photo dated: Nov. 18, 1961.
