Description
This circa-1958 photograph shows the J.C. Penney Company department store at 630 K St. The 96,000-square-foot store was opened in February 1957, making it one of the five largest Penney's outlets at that time. The windowless, six-story structure was built to complement the company's Country Club location in Carmichael. The Grand Rapids Furniture Company at 631 K St. and the Golden Eagle Hotel at 627 K St. are visible to the right.
