Description
This Broadway Limited dinner menu, written in plain text and extravagant cursive, lists appetizers, dishes, salads, desserts and beverages. In the center of the green menu is a note from the manager of the Dining Car Service saying, "Bon Appetite! The Broadway Limited bids you welcome to its table." It continues on about the supposedly infamous cuisine prepared by "master chefs" and served by courteous and skilled waiters. Furthermore, it states that the dining car is the "Pride of the Pennsylvania," and ends by proclaiming its dedication to an excellent dining experience and soliciting for comments. The unconventional dining options provided in this menu reflect the Pennsylvania Railroad's desire to provide food and beverages that are as close to first-class dining as railroad dining cars can get. It attempts to accommodate American's tastes for diverse foods while not straying too far away from the American norms. Also, the note stresses the chefs' quality cooking skills and the waiters' obliging courteousness which further advertises the excellent service that should be expected from the railway. In excellent condition. Includes advertisement on back cover for New York World's Fair 1965. Full document scanned.
