Photograph caption dated March 3, 1958 reads, "Discussing forthcoming campaign for sheriff are Mrs. Leiland Atherton Irish, Los Angeles civic leader who has been appointed chairman of the women's division of the Committee to Elect Pete Pitchess sheriff. Pitchess, former FBI agent, was named Undersheriff by Sheriff Biscailuz in 1953."
