Description
The 1996 Olympic Torch arrived at the Los Angeles Coliseum on its way to Atlanta, Georgia on April 27, 1996. Rafer Johnson, legendary athlete was the first LA torchbearer to carry it on its way. Others ran with it through Los Angeles County, arriving in Orange County in the early morning hours. As it made its way, celebrants in Huntington Beach were prepared to welcome its arrival there - the first stopover of the torch in the United States. The event featured a number of greetings, performances and even a surfboard salute before the torch continued on its way to San Diego. This film documents the welcoming of the torch and runners into the City of Huntington Beach by the community and celebrants there and the many activities held in honor of its arrival. It was professionally produced and filmed for the then-active Huntington Beach TV channel.
