A photograph of the ruins of the Ship Cafe, enhanced with paint to simulate fire. The Ship Cafe was on the Abbot Kinney Pier in Venice, California, which burned in a fire on December 20, 1920.
"The end of a perfect day at the Ship Café, Venice, Cal"--text, on item. Title devised by cataloger; date supplied by cataloger based on history of the Abbot Kinney fire. One fireman lost his life. The fire was started on December 20, 1920, by a gas heater explosion in the Dance Pavilion. Account of the effects of the fire was transcribed from related item.
