Description
Photograph of buildings along a dirt road in Chinese Camp, California, ca.1930. The narrow dirt road is pictured at center, bending into the image from a gradual incline to the left. To the right, two-story saloon-style buildings line the street, their facades masking incongruous architecture that stands behind them. Smaller, shack-like buildings are visible just behind tree foliage to the left. Back of photoprint reads: "Chinese Camp -- today it resembles a peaceful village -- which it is. Today not a Chinese could be found -- at one time the Chinese population was estimated at five thousand".
