Description
Image of people walking and riding an electric tram on a boardwalk heading to the Looff Pleasure Pier in Santa Monica, California, with the Blue Streak roller coaster and Looff Hippodrome in the distance.
This is a copy negative (a photograph of another photograph). Title based on note from donor Ernest Marquez: "South side of Santa Monica Pier (Plukas orig)" is written on envelope as it was received; date devised by cataloger based on the history of the Looff Pleasure Pier, which was completed in 1917, and the Blue Streak roller coaster which was replaced in 1924. The Venice Electric Tram operated approximately 1910-1929, along the concrete walkway between Venice and Santa Monica. (erha.org)
