Description
Photograph of a train car of the Virginia & Truckee Railway in Carson City, Nevada, ca.1935. The words "Virginia & Truckee" can be seen across the length of the car above 13 rectangular windows. Stairs lead to a walkway as well as a door at the end of the car on the left. The wheels can be seen sitting on the tracks that lie on the grassy ground below. In the background on the left, a small, darkly-colored building with lightly-colored trim sits amongst a backdrop of trees and a faint mountain side. Picture file card reads "The gaudy looking cars -- yellow trimmed with red -- look like circus cars. The Virginia & Truckee Railway connecting Reno, Carson City and Virginia City was built in 1864. This railway at one time operated 26 trains daily between Reno and Virginia City".
