Description
A child soldier stands between two older Contra soldiers at El Porvenir Farm, located two kilometers from the Honduras-Nicaragua border, in June 1983. He is wearing a cap with a safety pin on the front. All three are armed with unidentified weapons. The Contra on the left is wearing a black beret and holding a field radio and holding his weapon. The Contra on the right is holding his weapon on his right hand and has his left hand on his hip. There is a knife on his belt. Behind them in the background lies a pile of debris and scrap metal. The three of them are members of the Nicaraguan Democratic Force (FDN in Spanish), a military organization whose members are known informally as "Contras."
