Description
The corner of Lovell and Madrona was the location of the Dowd's Rock Crusher and storage yard. The Dowds had a quarry up Cascade Canyon and the big rocks were brought to the crusher and crushed for paths and street work. The Dowd family was an industrious family with their stable, drayage, moving business as well as heavy grading and plowing. At one time the Dowds operated a stage from Stinson Beach to West Point.
