Description
Ellen Searby, 24, fiancee of Warren Harding of West Sacramento, who was the leader of the first team to climb El Capitan and became one of the most famous rock climbers in the U.S. She holds up a mirror so Harding, left, George Whitmore, center, and Waye Merry, right, could see themselves on top of El Capitan. (She became a noted photographer and author.)
