In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 32.
A view of the corner of a street which is the site of a single two story building; the entrance is at the corner with a double door; other entrances are on both sides; at the corner on the building is a sign "Jack's Place; a roof overhangs the first floor and extends over most of the sidewalk; on second floor there are vertical, arched windows, 8 on the long side and 4 on the short side; a man walks midway on the long side on the sidewalk and a man is about to cross the street on the building's short side.
Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento.
"Once owned by The Gregory people...Saloon on the corner known as 'Last Chance Saloon'.Building torn down in 1937."
