Photograph caption dated September 16, 1957 reads "Mrs. Robert Wells of San Fernando waves goodby to seven of her 10 children as they join more than 160,000 San Fernando Valley youngsters beginning classes today. From left are Johnny, 8; Larry, 5; Andy, 7; David, 13; Stephen, 11; Bob, 14; Marilyn, 16; Linda, 2; Pamela, 3, and Susan, 1, in Mrs. Wells' arms. Total of 22,400 Valley pupils will be on half-day session when school opens, most of them in the West Valley."
