V1p38c In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 38 bottom. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Caption written under photo dates it at 1872 but the old City Hall appears to be in the process of demolition, dating the photo to about 1894. Building at extreme left did not exist until after 1878. View from Portsmouth Plaza looking northeast. City Hall in background. Washington Street at left, Merchant Street at right, Kearny Street running across. Four men sitting on bench in park.
