Original print has visible crease down middle. Photograph article dated December 23, 1961 partially reads, "'Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring... Except a crew of 70 technicians, a production staff of 20, an orchestra, a dozen or more performers, 50 children, three manned mobile television units and thousands of feet of cable. If this sounds a little offbeat from the usual picturesque Christmas scene, it's because it took place this week at the Valley home of a very unusual (but very on-beat) family. The scene was the spacious hilltop Royal Oaks home of Steve Allen and Jayne Meadows. The occasion was the taping of Steve's Christmas television show and quite unlike the Yule holiday plans they have for this weekend: Christmas will be a family affair, centering around the four Allen boys, Steve Jr., 17; Brian, 14; David, 12; and Billy, almost 4. There will be casual entertaining for close friends, carol singing and gift exchanging... but, most of all, Christmas to the Allens will mean leisure time together, a bonus holiday gift in itself."
