Description
In the wake of the October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, Caltrans commissioned an oral history project to document the personal and professional experiences of Caltrans employees who worked to restore the State's damaged transportation system. At the time of this interview Robert Ramirez was a Maintenance Supervisor at the Caltrans San Jose Maintenance Station on Queens Lane. Some of the highlights from the interview are what he observed during the Loma Prieta earthquake at the San Jose Maintenance Station, Working on Highway 17 with contractors and California Highway Patrol and problems keeping reflective sleeves on highway cones.
