Description
Pictured in this circa 1990 postcard are three views of the Folsom Dam looking east toward Folsom Lake. Built by the United States Army Engineers, the dam provided flood control for the American River and created Folsom Lake. The dam's construction was authorized by the Flood Control Act of 1944. Ground broke on the site in 1948, and it was dedicated in 1956.
