Description
Surveyed by T.J. Flannagan, C.E. May 1886, who laid out the townsite. The whole map is the Monrovia Tract. The center part is the 'Town of Monrovia'. Note the proposed location of the Grand View Hotel. J.H.Q. (John Quinton, also an engineer, worked with T.J. Flanagan) His initials JHQ are shown.) TINR11W stands for Township 1 North Range 11 West" Might also include SBBM (San Bernardino Base & Meridian), the reference reference for meets and bounds in Southern California. The diagonal line represents the boundary between Ranchos Santa Anita and Duarte.
