Photograph of electric transformers that supply power to Los Angeles, September 26, 1923. A line of seven tall cylindrical transformers runs from the foreground at right to the background at left. The transformers are light in color and have wires extending from the tops. A group of five men is standing near the transformers at left. Behind the cylinders is a brushy hill. Picture file card reads "California is accustomed to establishing world records. These transformers operate at 220,000 volts and supply power to Los Angeles -- 240 miles away".
