Photograph caption for Aug. 31, 1986, reprint reads: "Then: charred memories are all that remained of one home after destruction rained from sky." Two firemen stand in the middle of smoking plane wreckage, charred timbers and solitary chimneys with TV antennas, all that remain after a collision between an Aerome´xico jetliner and a smaller craft over Cerritos. Note on back of photograph reads, "View looking south towards Reva Pl. from Ashworth Pl. shows deadly path the DC-9 created." Photograph caption for July 8, 1987, reads, "Investigation of Cerritos disaster cited "limitations" in air traffic control system as main cause of midair collision that killed 82."
