61-year-old actor-auto dealer Leon Ames, his wife, Christine, and house guest, Herbert F. Baumgarteker were held captive for more than four terror-filled hours at the Ames' Studio City home by a gunman who threatened to kill them unless he received $50,000. It ended shortly with everyone safely rescued. Jailed on suspicion of kidnapping were Lynn Wayne Benner (pictured) and his wife, Patricia Louise. Photograph dated February 13, 1964.
