A nickel mine on the crests of the massif of Tontouta Comment : Photograph taken during the journey of Rev. Marc Boegner in New Caledonia. The nickel is the mainstay of New Caledonia wealth. This ore was discovered by the engineer Jules Garnier in 1864 in the southwest of 'Grande Terre'.
