Description
Photograph of grazing sheep in front of the Church of Angels in Garvanza, Los Angeles, ca.1888. Two sheep stand side by side at the bottom right of the photo, while numerous others flock across the grazing land, a large group of which is pictured farther back, at right. The Church of the Angels can be seen just behind them, beyond treecover in the distance. Hills and mountains are visible in the background. Avenue 64, then known as Mountain Avenue, can be as a dirt road between sheep and church.
