Undated notation written on the verso of the image reads, "Chief Running Bear and his squaw." The word "Bear" has been crossed out and replaced with "Nose." Willie George, also known as Chief Running Bull, was a member of the Bannock tribe of Idaho. He was a performer who travelled in various “wild west” shows and reportedly appeared in early Hollywood films. He is pictured here with wife Emma Tendoy and presumably their child.
