Description: Ellen Searby, 24, fiancee of Warren Harding of West Sacramento, who was the leader of the first team to climb El Capitan and became one of the most famous rock climbers in the U.S. She is packing food and climbing gear on El Capitan. She met the climbers after they completed the climb. At left, Ranger Rick Anderson. (Searby became a well--known photographer and author, though she never married Harding.)
