Shows three story building, awnings cover first floor windows, smaller awnings cover windows on second floor. "1924 Hochheimer & Co. Pioneer Store 1928?" on banner above first floor. Second Hochheimer & Co. store visible to left. Two horse-drawn carriages in front of building.
Store is located on Chester Avenue, occupying the entire block from 19th to 20th Streets. Original company started by Amiel And Moses Hochheimer in Dixon, California, expanding to Willow, Germantown and Orland in Glenn County, and Bakersfield in 1900. Moses purchased from a Mr. Belau establishment known as Pioneer Store.
