Photograph caption dated November 22, 1988 reads, "The 20-year-old Los Angeles County fire worker climbed out of his car and crawled about 150 feet before he was rescued and airlifted to safety. Fire employees realized the man may have had an accident when he didn't appear for roll call. The man was admitted in critical condition at Northridge Hospital with internal injuries, extensive facial laceration and a bruises heart, but his status had been upgraded to serious condition by last night, a hospital spokeswoman said." The accident occurred off the May Canyon Truck Trail outside of Sylmar.
