Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Mission San Juan Capistrano taken by photographer Edward Vischer, before 1875. The building of the main church is shown here in disrepair from the southeast, several of its stone walls having collapsed. The skeleton of vaulted ceilings are visible behind the a crumbled wall in front, next to which a man stands on a pile of rubble to the left. The portico, with its terracotta-tiled roof seems to be intact in the background. Dirt paths cut through the scrub vegetation in the foreground.
