The downtown terminal of the road was at the corner of Eddy & Market Sts. Western terminal Stanyan and Page Sts. with a branch ending at 9th Ave & Lincoln Way durning the Midwinter Fair." View is of car #43 of the Metropolitan Railroad, looking southwest from Baker between Oak and Fell. Ornamental trolley line pole behind car. Crowd of dignitaries posing aboard and beside car. Metropolitan began its car numbering at #43 and worked backwards, a common practice at the time for smaller systems who wished to make their fleets look bigger.
