Description: A long table decorated with garlands and grapes is set up under a trellis roofed structure for a banquet on September 16, 1885, in Pasadena, California, to celebrate the opening of the line of the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley Railroad. Several women in light colored dresses stand along either side, some holding plates of food. Many other men and women are gathered under the structure facing camera.
Title and date transcribed from back of photo-mount. Alt-title devised by cataloger. Written along bottom front of photo-mount: "Sept. 16 -- 1885, opening of LA & SGV RR." Written on back: "Pasadena -- on school grounds Colorado St."
