Photograph caption dated January 15, 1962 reads, "Polytechnic High's talented forward Ray McCune leaps high and pops in two points against Belmont during first-round game in the Los Angeles city high school basketball playoffs Saturday afternoon at Venice High. Poly whipped Belmont, 54-45, and meets Cleveland in the quarter finals this week at Venice's gym. John Vasquez, No. 21, Belmont guard, looks on helplessly."
