Photograph caption dated September 21, 1959 reads "UCLA's new football packing find, Left Half Bob Smith (19), turns corner and heads for goal line deep in Purdue territory with another Smith, Co-Captain Ray (21), looking for loose Boilermakers. Coming up to assist is Left Guard Jack Metcalf (65). Smith, who reminded Bruin followers of Jackie Robinson, ground out first down in this play." The game was held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
