The 7th annual Miss USA Pageant was held on July 23, 1958 at the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California.; Eurlyne Howell held the Miss Louisiana title when she competed for and won the 7th annual Miss USA title. She went on to compete in the Miss Universe Pageant held just a few days later on July 26, 1958 where she placed 3rd runner-up. Shortly after, Howell changed her name to Arlene Howell and made a career for herself in acting, appearing in a variety of television series including Bourbon Street Beat, Maverick, 77 Sunset Strip and Gomer Pyle.
